01Why the UK
The UK is the destination families ask us about most. Degrees are short by international standards, which keeps the total cost down, and there is a defined route to stay and work afterwards.
- 01A master's usually takes one year, and a bachelor's three.
- 02Two intakes a year, so a missed September is not a lost year.
- 03A Graduate visa that lets you stay and work after your degree.
02Key facts
- Main intakes
- September, with a smaller intake in January.
- Course length
- Bachelor's 3 years (4 in Scotland). Master's 1 year.
- Work while studying
- Up to 20 hours a week in term time on a degree-level course.
- After you graduate
- Graduate visa: 2 years if you apply before 1 January 2027, 18 months if you apply on or after that date. 3 years after a PhD.
- Funds you must show
- £1,529 a month in London or £1,171 a month elsewhere, for up to 9 months, on top of your first year's fees.
Last reviewed in October 2026. Governments change these rules and amounts often, and none of this is a promise about any individual visa. Check the official source, or ask us in a consultation.
