Work experience built into many courses, and a work permit after you graduate.

01Why Canada

Canada remains popular for its co-op programmes and its post-graduation work permit. It has also tightened its rules, so who qualifies, and for what, needs checking carefully.

  • 01Co-op programmes that build paid work experience into the course.
  • 02A post-graduation work permit of up to three years.
  • 03Three intakes a year at many institutions.

02Key facts

Main intakes
September. Smaller intakes in January and May.
Course length
Bachelor's 4 years. Master's 1 to 2 years.
Work while studying
Off campus, up to 24 hours a week during term.
After you graduate
Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to 3 years, depending on your programme. Eligibility rules apply.
Funds you must show
CAD 23,448 for one student's living costs (outside Quebec, from 1 September 2026), on top of your first year's fees.

Canada limits the number of study permits it issues each year, so applying early matters.

Last reviewed in October 2026. Governments change these rules and amounts often, and none of this is a promise about any individual visa. Check the official source, or ask us in a consultation.
